Chilean born percussionist Pablo "el muñeco" Sanhueza joined Mambo D'leon y El Mambo Orquesta in early April 2004 after one year of residence in Kansas City, working with other Salsa, and Latin jazz ensembles. "El muñeco" is currently pursuing a degree in percussion performance at the conservatory of Music at UMKC, and collaborating as a lead percussionist in the development of the Latin jazz repertoire for the big bands under the direction of Hal Melia, and Bobby Watson. Pablo has studied traditional Afro-cuban percussion with top Cuban"rumberos" Sandy Perez and Jesus Alonso from "Los Muñequitos de Matanzas". West African dance and drumming with Zimbabwean dancer/percussionist Rujeko Masango, and Congolese dancer/drummer Mabiba Boegne. Other projects musical projects include the co-foundation of experimental percussion troupe Concepto Tambor currently based in New Mexico. Pablo is thrilled with the opportunity to perform with the original and most seasoned Salseros of Kansas City under the direction of  Miguel Mambo D'Leon.
