Ruben "Señor Funny Guy" Gonzalez has been in the KC Music scene for almost 20yrs. As one of the original members of Sensation Caribe and thrilling the crowds at the Parody Hall in the river market area in the mid-80's with Miguel "MAMBO" DeLeon, he created his own style of percusion play uniquely his own. And for those who know Ruben.....he's a funny guy, hilarious at times! He got into the music to get rid of stage fright so he could do comedy, but "got hooked" on the vibe of the crowd response to his play. And that same funny get's real intense once the count comes in to play. Ruben has played with other local notibles, Mambo-X, Murralla, and Yoruba Son before coming home to El Mambo Orquestrawho along with Dave Simes, Al Pearson, Brad Burchstead, Pat Conway, Gary Nelson and Miguel "MAMBO" DeLeon has come full circle to bring the New KC Salsa Scene the original sounds of the Mambo-X Days which is a much noticable difference.
